The writers are making sure to get the tone of the western just right for the fourth season of Longmire this year.

Walt Might Be Walking A 'Lonely' Road On 'Longmire' This Season

On Tuesday writer Tony Tost offered up the definition of a western on Twitter, emphasizing the important of "morality" and a "stark, unforgiving" backdrop.

Tost then let fans know what they were listening to in the writer's room that afternoon, showing just where their inspiration was at as they wrote the new scenes.

The song follows a boy who watches the man he respects grow old and how the concept of "desperados waiting for a train" is much more exciting than it actually is. The song deals with mortality and the idea of getting older, which perhaps could be something Walt grapples with on Longmire this season.

Formerly part of A&E, the popular crime drama made the switch to Netflix back in November. Production is set to begin in March.

Longmire will likely return for a fourth season on Netflix during the later half of 2015.
