The cast of Orange Is the New Black won the award for Best Comedy Series Ensemble at the SAG Awards this weekend. The show features actors and actresses of all shapes and sizes, with many different ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientations represented.

With such a diverse cast, the show has gathered a sizable LGBTQ following since its premiere on Netflix in 2013. Lea DeLaria, who plays Big Boo on the prison comedy-drama, spoke about the likely reaction of this community.

"I can assure you they are having watching parties at the moment in every queer bar across the world," DeLaria said backstage at the SAG Awards. "Right now in West Hollywood, they're dancing in the streets. Christopher Street [in New York City] is having riots, I think."

DeLaria then spoke on how the world has changed in terms of acceptance and seeing such diversity on television.

"The LGBTQ community could not be more supportive of Orange Is the New Black, happier about the face of human-ness that it's put on all of us," she continued. "It's been a long haul for this tough guy to come to this place, and I never thought that the world would change in the way that it has. And this is a very, very amazing and exciting thing."

Uzo Aduba, who plays Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren, also won an individual acting award that night. She won the award for Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series, becoming the first black actress to win that category in the history of the SAG Awards.

Orange Is the New Black returns for season 3 in mid-2015 on Netflix, though the streaming service has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
