The Splinter project is currently safe from Scavengers, battling only the problems created by inadequate information and shaky targeting. Deacon, however, will soon make life in the post-apocalyptic 2043 all the more difficult.

Played by The Originals Todd Stashwick, Deacon is the leader of a scavenging group named West 7. Unaware of what is housed in the Splinter building, Deacon will set his sights on taking the sturdy building by storm.

"For Deacon, I don't think [the time travel] part of it concerns him," Stashwick told TV Line. "He sees the temporal facility as probably the best, most fortified roof imaginable. The time-travel business is way off his radar. All of that is an emerging truth for him, as far as stopping the plague goes."

Brutal in his extremes, Deacon can also be a charmer. Known for destroying quarantine facilities, it remains to be seen if the baddie will eventual aid Cole's (Aaron Stanford) mission.

"Again, I don't see him as a villain in the standard sense," Stashwick said, carefully skirting the question.

Deacon will make his first appearance in episode 4, "Atari."

Find out how Stashwick's character will play out when 12 Monkeys airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' next episode, "The Cassandra Complex."
