The BBC series kicked off season 9 production by filming two interconnected episodes penned by Toby Whithouse, and showrunner Steven Moffat recently confirmed rumors that the Time Lord will take on some extra long adventures later this year.

"We're filming our first two-parter at the moment, which is in fact going to be episodes three and four of the new series," Moffat told the Radio Times, indicating that Whithouse multi-part set up is just one of many.

Moffat also revealed that he has a few episodes of his own in the pipeline, although the sci-fi program is also bringing in a few new voices for 2015.

"We've got some other stuff lined up from other writers - some new, some old, some middle-aged," Moffat explained. "It's a little early to start teasing it too much, but I'm pretty excited. We've got some very, very good stuff coming."
