Prince Harry Targeted By Taliban For Assassination, "Harry Operations"
Prince Harry has a lot more to worry about than the naked photos from his Las Vegas vacation.
The prince returned to Afghanistan last week for a tour of duty as a co-pilot and gunner on an Apache attack helicopter, and the terrorist group has announced plans to target him for a violent attack.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the fundamentalist group, told Reuters details about the plan by phone from an undisclosed location.
"We are using all our strengths to get rid of him, either by killing or kidnapping," Mujahid said. "We have informed our commanders in Helmand to do whatever they can to eliminate him."
The spokesman added that the terrorist group is calling the mission to assassinate the prince "Harry Operations."
Prince Harry is currently at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan's southwest province of Helmand, but there has been no official word on whether he will stay there for the duration of his mission or if he'll be included in combat missions on the front lines.
This tour of Afghanistan is the prince's second. He first went to the Middle Eastern country in 2007 to work as a forward air controller, but a number of media outlets violated press blackouts and reported his location, causing Harry to leave Afghanistan early.
The threat to Prince Harry's life comes after TMZ published nude photos of the prince in a worldwide scoop that went viral internationally.
British military officials would not comment on the Taliban's threat to Prince Harry or his role in the war zone because of security concerns.
