Lily Rabe's presence was sorely missed through most of FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show, but will she come back for season 5 in the fall?

Will Taissa Farmiga Return For 'American Horror Story' Season 5?

Rabe only appeared in a couple of scenes during episode 10 of American Horror Story: Freak Show, reprising her role as Sister Mary Eunice, a character she memorably played in American Horror Story: Asylum. This was her smallest appearance on the horror anthology in all four seasons by far, but could she return for a major role in season 5?

Rabe is currently set to star in a new ABC show called The Whispers, which deals with alien life on Earth. The show does not have a set premiere date yet, though it is expected to premiere at some point in 2015.

Considering she is the star of the show, Rabe would probably be unavailable to come back to American Horror Story assuming The Whispers turns into a hit. However, if it is cancelled, it's possible that Rabe could make her triumphant return.

She also does not have anything else on her IMDb page that she is filming in the future, so anything is possible. Rabe has become a fan favorite through roles like Sister Mary Eunice and especially Misty Day in American Horror Story: Coven. Her return would certainly be welcome by most fans of the horror anthology.

Rabe addressed the possibility of returning to American Horror Story back in January with Zap2It, suggesting that it could definitely happen.

"I love being on American Horror Story and ... I can't answer that question," Rabe said with a laugh.

American Horror Story season 5 is expected to debut in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
