Tom and Trixie's relationship on Call the Midwife is going to be taking a rocky turn.

'Call The Midwife' Character Will Go 'From One Extreme To The Other'

On Tuesday, What's On TV posted the details from actor Jack Ashton (Tom) as his character has some doubts about marrying Trixie. The site mentioned that in an emotional episode, Trixie has a massive outburst when a visit from the Bishop takes place and Tom might have to move to an "impoverished parish" in Newcastle. This leads into challenges for the couple, giving insight if they can work through it or not.

"I can't say too much, but Tom, who is much more involved in the community now, certainly experiences a myriad of emotions," Ashton said. "The story is constantly moving and the couple approach some difficult subjects."

New Character Will Begin 'Quite Badly' On 'Call The Midwife'

Even though the actor couldn't reveal what the after-math of Tom and Trixie's argument is going to do, the site mentioned that Trixie will end up drunk and passed out in her room.

The characters may have a heated connection on-screen, but the actors, themselves, seem to get along pretty well.

"Helen [George who plays Trixie] has been very kind to me since I joined and makes me laugh a lot," Ashton said. "It was lovely to be asked back, it's such a fun job."

The actor also pointed out that he's used to Tom's religious attire, including the dog collar that he sometimes forgets he has on.

Call the Midwife Season 4 is expected to air in the United States this spring on PBS.
