Cassie (Amanda Schull) may have only been a means to an end at first, but three episodes in the virologist is even more essential to Cole's (Aaron Stanford) mission than ever. Despite her early misgivings, the pre-apocalyptic Cassie is now ready to trust time traveler form 2043.
"I think within a couple episodes in, she trusts him," Amanda Schull explained to IGN. "I think she trusts him and I think it's because he's proven to her that he's trustworthy, that he's telling her the truth, and that he will protect her life, which is also a big thing. He will protect her life over his own at times. However, I also think she trusts him because she doesn't really have anyone else to trust at this point, now that she now knows the truth of the situation and nobody else does."

Unfortunately, that trust may allow Cassie to turn a blind eye to some more unsavory facts, such as what really happened to Henri (Lyriq Bent).
"I don't think she has any idea of what the truth really is, so she takes [Cole's] answer, because she needs to hear that," Schull told IGN. "She needs that to be the truth at that moment. So if there's something more to it, she can't take it at that point."
