'Vikings' Season 3 Spoilers: Ragnar & Floki To Drift Further Apart? George Blagden Teases Premiere Changes [VIDEO]
Vikings' king and boat builder will continue to drift apart as season 3 begins.
Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) used to be nigh inseparable, but the end of season 2 proved that, although Floki is still loyal to his leader, there is a definite wedge between the two warriors.
When the new season opens on Feb. 19, their friendship will not be on the mend. Ragnar will take his men to fight on behalf of King Ecbert (Linus Roache), and Floki will not believe the residents of Kattegat should risk their lives for those of another religion.

"There's definitely a rift being created between Floki and Ragnar due to Ragnar's religious curiosity," George Blagden (Athelstan) said, according to Zap2It. "However, while Floki may see the battle as fighting on behalf of the Christians, Ragnar always looks at the bigger picture."
As Floki fades into the background, Ragnar will need a new confidant. Athelstan - a man who has lived his adult life amongst Christians and pagans alike - will rise to the occasion and fill in as the new King's right hand man.
"It's useful to have someone else he trusts who's probably the most objective of his family," Blagden told Zap2It. "Over two seasons we've seen Ragnar create fractured relationships with his family and friends, but that hasn't really happened with Athelstan."
