Thor director Kenneth Branagh opted out of the franchise's second installment, but he might just be returning to for Thor: Ragnarok this year.
Chris Hemsworth Dishes On 'Thor: Ragnarok'
The director maintains that his relationship with the studio is solid despite having stepped aside for the Thor sequel in 2013. At The Berlin Film Festival on Feb. 5 Branagh discussed the possibility of returning to the franchise, as well as how he has wonderful memories of his time working on the original picture.
"I'm pleased to say that I continue to have good relationships with all my Marvel family…I fondly remember good times working on Thor," he explained to The Hollywood Reporter. "So you always look to repeat that kind of thing, and if it happened again, I'd be delighted."

There is some debate as to why Branagh did not return for Thor: The Dark World. The director publicly claimed that his schedule conflicted with that of the picture, though The Hollywood Reporter and Cinema Blend have both made claims that there were creative differences which resulted in his exit. Whatever the reason, it looks like there is no bad blood between the director and the studio.
One man fans can definitely expect to see back for the upcoming action flick is actor Chris Hemsworth, who will be returning to reprise his role as the hammer-wielding god. The star is looking forward to the film, though he maintains that a script for the project has yet to be delivered to him.
Thor: Ragnarok is set to hit theatres July 28, 2017.
