It looks like the writers are finishing up their work for the fourth season of Longmire.

A&E Replaces 'Longmire' With New Crime Drama

Tony Tost, who has posted many messages on Twitter from the writer's room, has been pretty quiet lately. He hasn't shared any word of the new season since late January, suggesting perhaps that the writers have completed the new season.

Over the last few weeks Tost has dished on what the writers have been listening to for inspiration as they worked, including classics like Van Morrison's Who Was That Masked Man, Guy Clark's Desperadoes Waiting For A Train and Miranda Lambert's hit 2014 single Automatic.

When Netflix Might Release A Trailer For 'Longmire'

2014 was not a stable year for Longmire. The popular series was cancelled by A&E following its third season. The decision had come as a major surprise to most fans, especially since the crime drama had been the network's highest-rated scripted series at the time. It was also the second highest-rated series total behind the reality program Duck Dynasty. Longmire lingered in limbo for months before Netflix picked up the show in November, at which point the writers promptly returned to
flesh out the new season.

Production is set to begin in March, which is less than a month away. While many programs are known to be writing and producing episodes even after the season has begun to air on television, Netflix's limited season run could mean that the writer's could be working on a different kind of schedule.

Longmire will likely return for a fourth season on Netflix during the later half of 2015.
