Jamie Brewer, who has appeared in three seasons of FX's American Horror Story, is about to make history on the runway.

Brewer will become the first person with Down syndrome to walk the runway as part of New York Fashion Week. This is part of designer Carrie Hammer's "Role Models Not Runway Models" campaign, with Brewer set to wear an original design.

"Young girls and even young women...[see me] and say 'hey, if she can do it so can I,'" Brewer told The Today Show this week. "It's a true inspiration being a role model for any young women to [encourage them] in being who they are and showing who they are."

Will Sarah Paulson Become Sole Lead of 'American Horror Story' With Jessica Lange Gone?

Brewer has played some interesting characters on American Horror Story, from the sweet Adelaide in the first season to the clairvoyant Nan in Coven to the evil ventriloquist's dummy come-to-life Marjorie in Freak Show. The actress will be wearing an outfit inspired by the darkness of AHS.

"American Horror Story is dark, scary, bewitching so we had to go with black and Jamie has a beautiful body with a teeny waist and curves and we went with an A-line," Hammer said.

Apparently the dress is a perfect fit for Brewer, who could not help but gush over it.

"It's amazing, it's really neat," Brewer said. "Many women have many sides to their personality, this dress fits...mine. I am honored to be in it."

It remains to be seen if Brewer will be asked back to play a new character in American Horror Story season 5, but she has been one of the more popular actresses on the show so it seems likely.

American Horror Story season 5 is expected to air on October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
