'My 600-lb Life' Story: Susan's Legs Go Numb, What Does This Mean For Her Future? [VIDEO]
TLC aired the newest episode of My 600-lb Life where the morbidly obese woman, Susan, didn't want to end up in a wheelchair after the lower part of her body went completely numb.
On Wednesday, the latest star of TLC's My 600-lb Life was faced wth a scary ultimatum that she could end up paralyzed for life if she didn't make some serious changes.
According to Daily Mail, Susan reached 607 pounds at the young age of 17 as a result of her parents' divorce. Susan still lives with her mother and apparently doesn't know life any other way.
Before she could be eligible for a gastric bypass surgery, her doctor challenged her to lose 100 pounds before he would perform the procedure.
Following her surgery, Susan fell to the ground and was rushed to the hospital when her legs went completely numb. She was diagnosed with a nerve condition called "neuropathy" and was told she could end up in a wheelchair.
"I've been doing anything to get better and this doesn't feel fair at all, but I will not end up in a wheelchair," Susan said.
Following the news that neuropathy could impact her ability to live a normal life even if she does lose all the weight, she had an entirely new outlook and became determined to make herself better.
"I've been thinking about being in a wheelchair and using that as motivation to keep going. The surgery was my second chance at life. And I'm not going to let a setback like this take that from me. I'm going to fight. I'm going to do everything I possibly can to get better," she said while she was in a rehab center where she had to learn to walk again.
