Things unfortunately didn't work out for Trixie and Tom on Call the Midwife, and it might go from bad to worse.
New Character Begins 'Quite Badly' On 'Call The Midwife'
On Friday, What's On TV posted an interview with Helen George (Trixie) who explained why her character decided to break off her engagement with Tom.
"They've realized they maybe want different things out of life and they are both hurt," George said. "She loves him and he is good for her because he is solid, but she doesn't think she is good enough for him."

So how hard is Trixie going to take this? According to the actress, it's going to be pretty tough.
"She hasn't dealt with her childhood and now it's not plain sailing with Tom, it kicks off a chain of events that has a deep emotional effect on her and she doesn't cope," George said. "I always equated her happiness with her curves so there is also weight loss and she neglects herself."
The television star then mentioned that viewers might develop a stronger feel for Trixie as she learns more about herself.
"I've been given lovely stuff and brilliant challenges," she said. "She's always been the fun party girl slightly superficial, but now you get under her skin and understand her more and she grows up. Whether viewers will take it or not, I don't know, but it has been a real journey as an actress."
Call the Midwife Season 4 is expected to air in the United States this spring on PBS.
