Reeve Carney took some time this week to discuss the new season of Showtime's Penny Dreadful with some of the program's most loyal fans.

Someone Is Going To Jail On 'Penny Dreadful'

With production in Dublin coming to an end and a premiere date just two months away, Carney had a few things to say about his portrayal of Dorian Gray and the future of the Victorian supernatural drama.

"One of the things I love about the show is there seems to be no true hero and no true villain," noted the actor during the fan event on Feb. 13 (featured below).

Director Says 'Penny Dreadful' Will 'Thrill' Fans This Season

When pressed about season 2, Carney admitted that things will be changing a bit this time around. "I think season 1 was bringing together the family," he explained. "Season 2 deals heavily in the occult."

So will fans finally get to see Dorian's infamous painting? Has Carney managed to sneak a peek? Not yet.

The actor admitted that he hasn't seen Dorian's portrait just yet and he sort of prefers it that way. "I think that's almost more terrifying," he said, claiming the imagination can often conjure more frightening images.

One thing Carney would like to see moving forward is more about the mysterious Sembene (Danny Sapani), the only lead whose background has yet to be revealed. Of course, Dorian has more than a few secrets of his own. It's possible his history might just be explored this season as well.

Penny Dreadful will return on Showtime for a second season Sunday, May 3 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
