Beauty and the Beast has been picked up for a fourth season and the premiere date for season 3 has also been revealed.

Deadline reported that the CW has renewed the series for another chapter. Along with this, the network also announced that season 3 would premiere on May 21.

Recently rumors about Beauty and the Beast being renewed for a fourth season were set off by sites like Playback and certain crew members of the show, but they had been put to rest.

TvbytheNumbers got in touch with the senior vice president over at the CW, and it he suggested it was all just wishful thinking.

Paul Hewitt, who is senior VP, network communications for the show, said it was "nonsense," adding that: "No decision or order has been made as of yet for another season of Beauty."

Meanwhile, filming for season 3 is almost through. Director Stuart Gillard stated that the cast and crew were gearing up for filming the finale of the next chapter, via Twitter.

"Rolling cameras in 12 hours to kick off the Finale. #beasties will not be disappointed. #batb," he tweeted on January 27.

In a another interview CW president, Mark Pedowitz, had revealed that season 3 of Beauty and the Beast will be premiering in late May or early June.

Pedowitz spoke to Entertainment Weekly, while discussing the early renewals for eight CW shows like Arrow, Jane the Virgin and Flash. He had nothing to say about a renewal for Beauty and the Beast yet.

While filming of season 3 of Beauty and the Beast is well underway, there had been no official word on the release date for the next chapter. Recently, Stuart Gillard, the director of the series, addressed the question when it was recently posed to him by a fan via Twitter.

Previously, Gillard had no clue as to when the show would hit the air, saying he knew just as much as anybody else.

"@jazzangel1226 the network hasn't told us when we return yet. We are waiting along with all of you," he had tweeted.

In other recent news, the show took away two wins at the People's choice awards, which took place on January 7. The show won for the favorite network sci-fi/fantasy TV show and Kristin Kreuk who plays the part of Catherine in the series, also won favorite cable sci-fi/fantasy TV actress.

The season 2 finale, Deja Vu aired on The CW at 8 p.m. on July 7.
