Kate Middleton Photo Controversy: Duchess Gets Away From It All With 'Second Honeymoon'
The world is still abuzz with the fallout from the controversial topless photos of Kate Middleton published in French magazine Closer, but the duchess won't let that stand in the way of time with her man.
Kate and Prince William have been on a tour of Southeast Asia, and the couple will take a break from the chaos surrounding them amid the photo scandal for a "second honeymoon" in the Solomon Islands.
The time away from the public will be a welcome reprieve for the royal couple. The entire world has been fixated on Middleton since photos of her sunbathing topless were published.
The paparazzi's fixation with Middleton and the rabid quest to document her most private moments is similar to what the late Princess Diana, William's mother, faced during her life.
Handbag designer Lana Marks, who was one of Diana's closest friends, told E! News that the princess would have been happy with how her son and his new wife are handling the scandal.
"[Diana] would be absolutely devastated by what William and Kate are having to deal with at the moment. But she would be extremely proud of how William is handling things and doing everything in his power to protect his wife and file this lawsuit. She would want him to take a stand against this," Marks said.
Prince William is seeing the paparazzi craze first-hand for the second time. Marks said he knew better than nearly anyone the horrors his mother faced as journalists and photographers pursued her incessantly.
"William knows more than anyone what his mother had to endure," she said. "He was intimately aware of the life she led, and he would not want his wife to be hounded in the same way."
