'Call The Midwife' Season 4 Premiere: There Will Be 'Surprises' About Phyllis Coming Soon After She Releases A Secret To A Man With Criminal History [VIDEO]
As Phyllis Crane makes her way into the world of Call the Midwife, fans might want to brace themselves for something pretty shocking coming soon.
How Does Cynthia Feel About Becoming A Nun On 'Call The Midwife?'
On Tuesday, What's On TV posted an interview with actress Linda Bassett (Phyllis) who said the other midwives and nuns are about to find out some juicy stuff about her character.
"Phyllis is a bit different to the rest of them," Bassett said. "She's a self-styled spinster, a career woman and dedicated to midwifery. She's devoted herself to her work...but there are surprises in the life of Phyllis Crane!"
Fans Might Be 'Protective' Over 'Call The Midwife' In Upcoming Episodes
The site gave a few details about the woman who's going to show a vulnerable side of herself in a future episode. She tries to go to a charity dance, which causes the other nurses to laugh at her. When this leaves her feeling hurt, she ends up helping out an unmarried pregnant teenager and her ex-boyfriend Vaughan who has a dangerous past. This eventually leads Phyllis to confess a secret to Vaughan, leaving plenty of speculation on how she can confide in a man with a criminal history.
Of course, the actress didn't reveal the answer to this, but she did mention how happy she is to play this character.
"Phyllis so obviously wants to make the world a better place, and is something of a campaigner," Bassett said. "When they first offered me the job I thought I'd be a nun. But I can't sing, so it's just as well I'm bossy Nurse Phyllis Crane!"
Call the Midwife Season 4 is expected to air in the United States this spring on PBS.
