Early reviews for season 3 of House of Cards just hit the internet, and they hint at the fact that the show's reputation is all that is dragging its weight, as the plot is overwrought and the storyline outstays its welcome.

New Teaser Of Season 3 Of House of Cards Revealed

The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, both publications chime in the same complaint.

"House of Cards returns, and in terms of classy actors in a high-stakes setting, it's solidly entertaining. Still, the series that set Netflix on the path to programming prestige also feels played out, as if it should have retured without seeking a third term." -- Variety

Claire Underwood To Have A Secret Affair In Season 3 Of House of Cards

"Now in its third season, House of Cards has one of those problems that soap operas bump up against all the time: story fatigue. You can only ask your audience to buy into the political shenanigans of Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and wife Claire (Robin Wright) for so long, given the Gumbyesque contortions that the series uses to entertain " -- The Hollywood Reporter

Recently, showrunner Beau Willimon, also addressed the leak of the season on Netflix for 20 minutes.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Willimon's reaction to the whole debacle was actually pretty positive.

"I was actually very amused by the whole thing and then delighted to see what a huge response we got from the fans. So many people are excited about what's going to happen two weeks from now," he said.

He also seemed unfazed by overspillage of spoilers on account of the leak, and believed that not too much damage had been done.

"No harm done," he said. "We take great care, obviously, to keep as much of the story secret as possible and there a little bit of the story was let out but there are plenty of surprises ahead. Twenty minutes is not enough for people to have figured everything out."

The third season will premiere on February 27.
