Michael Lohan: 'Proud' Alcohol Was Not A Factor In Lindsay's Car Accident
No matter how troubled a relationship, sometimes a daughter just needs her father.
After Lindsay Lohan was arrested for allegedly hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene, she called her estranged father, Michael Lohan, during her brief stint in jail early Sept. 19.
"She called her father when she was handcuffed to the bench," a source told Celebuzz.
Michael confirmed the phone call, saying, "I'm really proud Lindsay had the confidence to reach out to me. I'm also very proud that she wasn't drinking."
The actress arrived at the Dream Hotel in downtown Manhattan around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 19. As she attempted to park her Porsche Cayenne, Lohan reportedly hit the knee of an unknown man who was standing nearby.
Reports state alcohol was not involved in the incident and Lindsay was not requested to take a field sobriety test.
"From what we know now, she will be completely exonerated," Michael told Celebuzz. "They tested her and she wasn't drinking. Lindsay is okay. She's sleeping, and I'm letting her rest."
She was booked on a misdemeanor charge and released around 4:30 a.m. with a desk appearance ticket. A bail was not issued for her release.
The incident could affect Lindsay's probation, which resulted from her high-profile jewelry theft case.
Reportedly in his 30s, the man who was hit by Lindsay's car did not sustain any visible injuries and did not fall down during the accident, but it is said he was taken to the hospital.
