Nurse Barbara and Sister Mary Cynthia are about to try out something new, which could wind up as a wise choice- assuming it all works out.

'Call The Midwife' Character Will Go 'From One Extreme To The Other'

On Sunday, Carter Matt released a synopsis of an upcoming episode when the maternity home sees two friends who reunite. This is supposed to lead to an unexpected result that could be good or bad.

While this is happening, Barbara and Mary Cynthia will work together to implement a revolutionary technique on a patient. But as it turns out, there will be someone else who might need more serious care- the patient's wife.

'Call The Midwife' Christmas Special Chatter

The site pointed out that this will be the first time that these two ladies try something like this out as science and technology become more beneficial to Nonnatus House.

Actress Byrony Hannah (Cynthia) previously told What's On TV what her character will be like now that she's made the decision to become a nun.

"When she comes back, you see she's very happy with her decision and really at one time with herself for the first time," Hannah said. "Cynthia is on a voyage of self-discovery. She's grown in confidence and grown into herself as a woman."

The actress then mentioned how she wasn't too shocked when she found out that Cynthia would make this transition in her life.

"We've been talking about it for a long, long time because Jennifer Worth mentioned in her books [the premise of the series] that Cynthia becomes a nun," Hannah noted. "It was only a few sentences, but I've had it in mind since the start."

Call the Midwife is expected to return to the United States this spring on PBS.
