The rapper spoke about slavery abolitionist Harriet Tubman and how African American pioneers paved the way for members of today's generation.
"The bit of sound bites that everyone loved from last year that got taken out of context or misunderstood did come from a place of saying, 'Yes, part of the reason why I'm not allowed to be empowered is because of race, because of people's perception of celebrity, because all they want to present to young, black men is the idea of making it to the league or making it to be a rapper, but not the idea of becoming an owner.' And they would do anything they can to make it seem like a truthful idea is a stupid idea or crazy idea."
It's clear that Kanye's wife is beyond proud of her man. Reality star Kim Kardashian took to Instagram to praise her hubby for his amazing accomplishments writing, "Watching Kanye's speech at the BET Honors made me smile! He is so deserving of this visionary award! I'm so proud of him #MyHeartSmiles4Him."
Kardashian also shared two other photos from the event. One of the photos is of the couple on the red carpet, and the other is of the duo sharing a big smooch.
