Throughout the summer, many fans have been buzzing on who they feel would make the perfect Christian Grey character in the film adaptation of E.L. James' racy novel "Fifty Shades of Grey." The latest name being thrown around in the rumor mill is "Love And Other Drugs" star Jake Gyllenhaal.

According to Fifty Shades Film, Gyllenhall called "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" on Tuesday, Sept. 18, to speak about his latest movie "End of Watch." However, the chatter soon turned to that of "Fifty Shades."

Seacrest explained to the 31-year-old that he is one of the actors that fans are putting out there to don the role of Christian Grey.

"That's super flattering. I have not heard that, but if that's true that's a nice thing, always nice to be considered," Gyllenhaal said.

When the star was further queried by the radio host on whether he would even consider a potential part in the racy flick, he replied with the following:

"Of course, I always want to work, of course!"

Although he is indeed considered good-looking by several female admirers, his gray eyes and strong acting chops are what many believe would give him an edge in the competition for the highly-coveted role.

The sexually explicit "Fifty Shades of Grey" premise revolves around a recent college student then graduate, Anastasia Steele, who gets herself involved in a dominant and submissive sexual relationship with billionaire Grey through an "agreement," as both experiment with the world of bondage and masochism.

Web rumors have also brought some other actors into the mix as some Christian Steele favorites, including "White Collar" actor Matt Bomer, "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder and "Man of Steel" Henry Cavill.

At the present moment, E.L. James and the producers attached to the future film have remained mum on the casting process. However, only time will tell who will ultimately end up with the highly-coveted role of Christian Grey, and the equally important part of Anastasia Steele.
