There has been a lot of speculation about season 3 of House of Cards riding the course of the original BBC series, in which Claire Underwood (Rachel Wright) murders Frank (Kevin Spacey).
Frank Underwood Pisses On His Father's Grave In First Episode?
While initially it seemed unlikely, and it was assumed that the storyline would be different to keep the show going for another season, the recent previews for House of Cards reveal a pretty disdainful Claire. The first lady is shown not only losing faith in Frank but reproaching him.
In one of the recently released teasers, Claire is very upfront with Frank about how she is not on board anymore and feels like they're losing the plot.
Claire Underwood To Have A Secret Affair In Season 3 Of House of Cards
"I am starting to question all of this Francis, what are we doing this for?" Claire is heard as a voice over to a scene showing her exercising in the White House.
In a previously released trailer, Claire's disdain for Frank was made aptly clear.
The teaser features Frank and Claire Underwood getting their first White House portrait shows the deteriorating dynamic between the two in season 3 of House of Cards.
In the 30-second clip the photographer directs Frank to stand behind Claire, who is seated. As he does so, he rests his hand on her shoulder. His monologue relays what's actually going on:
"Today I touched your shoulder, you flinched."
Then in real time he is seen asking her, "Do you prefer I not?"
"What?" Claire asks. At this point the photgrapher interjects stating that where Frank had his hand was perfect for the portrait.
"You recoiled" Frank's voiceover continues. Claire responds by saying he is reading too much into something.
The tension is very evident in their expressions and postures for the picture, and this strongly hints at hard times for the marriage in this chapter.
The third season will premiere on February 27.
