The last few episodes of the CBS soap opera have led viewers to believe Austin Travers (Matthew Atkinson) is dead given Courtney Sloane (Kelli Goss) did attempt CPR on him, but he was nonresponsive.
Plus, his body suddenly vanished from the Abbott cabin, but now it appears to have turned up in a staged motor vehicle accident.
Austin Is Really Dead On 'The Young and the Restless'?
On Friday, Soaps reported the episode of The Young and the Restless airing today, March 2, will be loaded with drama as Summer Newman Travers (Hunter King) deals with her husband's death. Kyle Jenkins Abbott (Lachlan Buchanan) will be there to comfort her, which will raise eyebrows amongst the other Genoa City residents since many believe his return has something to do with Austin's end.
Soaps In Depth revealed Friday that Atkinson opened up a little about what's to come for his character's storyline.
Many lookalikes and twins have come through Genoa City in the past so that's definitely an option for Austin, but Atkinson shared, "I don't know what's going to happen.
"From day one, Austin has been a very mysterious character, and we haven't figured out much about him. There's a lot of questions we could ask, but no answers just yet! I can't give anything specifically away, I would say you will learn a lot about Austin in the coming weeks," Atkinson added.
Viewers of the soap have recently learned that Austin was having an affair with Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway).
"When I first came on the show, Melissa [Ordway] and I talked about how her character is related to everyone, so we thought at some point we were going to have a relationship!" Atkinson gushed, adding, "I guess that kind of ended up happening! I enjoy working with her; she's such a sweetheart!
"Keep watching," the actor dished, adding, "This is not a predictable storyline at all!"
The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
