Natalie Portman, 31, was at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday, Sept. 22, supporting her husband, choreographer Benjamin Millepied, who premiered his new LA Dance Project, and her hair color made quite the buzz.

The actress' newly dyed blonde hair is for a movie role she will star in. Regarding her change in appearance, the actress told the Hollywood Reporter: "My mom says I'm like a different person."

Portman hung out that day with Robert Pattinson as well and has a photo with him as he sports his own set of brunette hair. Portman wore a white Dior Couture gown and Van Cleef & Arpels jewels while Pattinson, with his signature tossled hair, wore a navy suit and black buttoned down shirt.

The actress revealed no details about the movie role and the upcoming project that was the reason behind the transformation of her original brunette hair. However, LA colorist Tracey Cunningham made the magic happen and told Us Weekly:

"Natalie makes a beautiful blonde! She needed to make the change for an upcoming movie role, and using Redken's Blonde Dimensions we achieved a gorgeous, multi-dimensional golden blonde."

The last time Portman was blonde on screen was for her role in "Closer," where she played a stripper who seduced Jude Law's character.

The latest film for the actress, and new mom to son Aleph, was "Thor" in 2011. She has three projects in the works also, including the sequel, "Thor: The Dark World," as well as "Knight of Cups" and an untitled new film from Terrence Malick. Those three movies are set to premiere sometime in 2013.

A friend of Portman's reported to Us Weekly that the actress has become more selective when choosing her film roles, and she only wants to accept parts that are worth taking time away from her son.

"Natalie is being super choosy about her projects and taking more time off from acting," the source said. "She has this glow about her these days. There's been a change in her since the little man arrived."
