While sometimes teams wind up shocked when they learn they are the last to finish and a leg and are eliminated from the Amazing Race, recently eliminated team Lebya and CJ knew it was coming.

Jeff & Lyda Say They Should Have Switched Detours

In a post-elimination interview with TV Guide, the couple, who have been dating 10 years, admitted that they pretty much knew they would be eliminated the second they missed their train from Tokyo to Nagano, Japan, and unfortunately for them, fate just seemed to be stacked against them that day.

"We didn't have a chance at all that day," Lebya said. "It was already too late when we missed the train. People were already so far ahead of us that there was no way to make up any time. Then, we got bad directions. Our taxi took us to the wrong place. It was just a lot of things that were out of our control. We chose to have fun while we were still in the race."

As for the twist where five of the teams they were competing against being on blind dates, the long time couple thinks it was a good idea, but revealed the advantage those teams may have had over ones like them-which could explain why they've been doing much better than the pre-existing couples thus far.

"I think they have an advantage. I know what pushes her buttons and I know what not to say," CJ said. "But the blind dates, they don't care because at the end of the show, they can just split up and go their own way if it doesn't work out! But I still have to come home and she's still my girlfriend. You walk around on eggshells a little bit and you're probably not as blunt as you'd be to someone you just met, like 'Come on! Hurry up!' You know what to say and what not to say when you've been dating someone."

"Right, and I think we had more to lose. Our relationship would be affected, so I think that made it a little harder," Lebya added.

And no...CJ still hasn't given Lebya her ring.

"The Lord will reveal in due time," he said after being asked what it would take to get him to propose.

The Amazing Race airs Fridays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
