Lady Gaga Weight Gain: Responds To Body Criticism With Half Naked Photos, Starts 'Body Revolution' (PHOTOS)
When Lady Gaga declared she gained 25 pounds and said, "I really don't feel bad about it, not even for a second," she meant it.
Headlines declared she was "meaty" and had "piled on the pounds." But Gaga is fighting back and inspiring all of her Little Monsters to join in the "Body Revolution," a new sub-section of her website, in hopes of inspiring body confidence and acceptance.
Mother Monster posted pictures of herself in just a bra and thong. Along with the series of photos, she wrote, "Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15. But today I join the BODY REVOLUTION. To Inspire Bravery. and BREED some m$therf*cking COMPASSION."
Gaga's revealing photos struck a chord with fans, who felt that her story was theirs. She received an outpour of supportive comments.
One fan wrote, "Thank you for making me love myself! Sometimes people tell me that I'm ugly and fat, even if I'm not! And the only reason that I can say that is because of you. You have changed my life! I love you! Before you came into my life I was insecure, I cried over bullies, I cried over my ugly body, but you make me feel beautiful! Thank you for all you've done! I love you so much! Love And Kisses, Olivia."
She also wrote, "My mother and I created the BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION for one reason: 'to inspire bravery.' This profile is an extension of that dream. Be brave and celebrate with us your 'perceived flaws,' as society tells us. May we make our flaws famous, and thus redefine the heinous."
The singer even got her friends and family involved in the "Body Revolution."
Her legion of fans began posting their partially clothed pictures as requested by Mother Monster. All of them credited Gaga for making them brave enough to do it.
Along with a photo of an arm with scars, one fan wrote, "I used to cut myself, deeply, because I couldn't handle the mental pain that I felt. It was really hard to stop, but you've made me brave, Gaga. It still hurts to look at them, but I feel proud that I've moved on. Thank you."
