The Jodi Arias retrial began in October of last year and has officially wrapped Thursday resulting in yet another mistrial since jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict.

Jodi Arias' Closed-Courtroom Testimony Releases

Last week, Arias' defense team consisting of Kirk Nurmi and Jennifer Willmott as well as Prosecutor Juan Martinez made closing arguments according to Yahoo! News via Associated Press on Tuesday.

Arias' lawyers during this retrial focused on the psychological reasoning that brought their client to the point of murdering Travis Alexander so during Nurmi's closing argument he put various photos of Arias looking happy on display as an attempt to gather sympathy from the jury.

Nurmi urged the jurors to spare Arias' life and called the decision they have to make "monumental".

USA Today reported that Arias will not face the death penalty since the retrial jury much like the first jury from her original trial could not reach a unanimous verdict on whether she should get a life sentence or the death penalty.

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens therefore declared a mistrial.

Arias' deceased former boyfriend's sisters were seen sobbing in the courtroom during the proceedings.

USA Today reported that after leaving the courtroom, the family walked by the media, saying, "The real justice will be in the afterlife, when Jodi burns in hell."

Under Arizona law, Judge Stephens will automatically sentence Arias to life in prison. Arias' formal sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 13. Judge Stephens will decide whether she's eligible for release after 25 years.
