'True Detective' Season 2 News: Does HBO Need To Cool It With The Big Name Stars? [VIDEO]
The stars of HBO's True Detective might just be distracting from the series.
'True Detective' Creator Reveals Why He Chose Vince Vaughn
On Thursday the fan site True Detective Rumors suggested that the stars have been drawing attention away from the narrative. Talk of who they are and why they were chosen has subsequently overshadowed chatter about the show itself.
The site claims that the crime drama should be known for its great storytelling, not the big stars it attracts.

Casting certainly took center stage in 2014, especially after the success of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in season one. For a while big names like Jessica Chastain (Mama) and Brad Pitt (Fury) were said to be in the running, though these rumors were ultimately proved false.
Even after the official cast was announced, fans still flock for the latest news about the show's new talent.
Creator Nic Pizzolatto went with some unlikely choices this season, most notably in casting Vince Vaughn as career criminal Frank Semyon. Vaughn is set to star alongside Colin Farrell (Ddetective Ray Velcoro), Rachel McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides), and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh).
The new installment will take place in California and follow the events which take place after a corrupt city manager is murdered. Pizzolatto has penned all the episodes, with Fast and Furious alum Justin Lin set as director for the premiere.
True Detective will return on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
