There are just two weeks to go before Longmire begins production for its forth season.

Gerald McRaney Says He'll Return As Barlow Connally On 'Longmire'

Actor Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays fan-favorite Henry Standing Bear on the series, confirmed on Twitter Friday that they will starting filming the upcoming season in two weeks.

Cast and crew are pretty eager to get things going. Production will take place in New Mexico and most of the new episodes have already been written.

On Tuesday writer Tony Tost revealed that the new episodes are already his "favorite" so far.

Longmire has had something of a rollercoaster year so far. In 2014 A&E cancelled the series following its third season and for months it lingered in limbo with a huge fan base and no home. Then, in November, Netflix stepped in and revived the program.

It's uncertain when exactly the first episode will debut, though Netflix has been known to release entire seasons all at one time. While this system would surely delight fans, it would also mean that the series would probably come back a little later.

Longmire will likely return for a fourth season on Netflix during the later half of 2015.
