LeBlanc portrayed Michael until 1993 before reprising his role in 1997 and has stuck around in Genoa City ever since.
In recent years, Michael was the Genoa City District Attorney, but eventually stepped down from the title. Now, he is just an attorney, but in 2014 between an abundant amount of stress from his workload and at the time, unknown health problems, he partnered with Avery Bailey Clark (Jessica Collins).

Partnering with Avery still did not relieve his stress though so he saw a doctor and soon learned he had cancer - stage 3 prostrate cancer to be more exact.
On Friday, Soaps in Depth reported about fans' fear that Michael would be getting written out of the soap opera due to his diagnosis. Therefore, LeBlanc would be leaving, but LeBlanc told the site that fans do not have to worry about him leaving anytime soon.
He dished that the rumors began to fly about him leaving the show once his character was diagnosed with cancer since Billy Miller, who played Billy Abbott, left the show in 2014 after being on since 2008 and Michelle Stafford, who portrayed Phyllis Summers from 1994 to 1997 and then reprised her role in 2000 before leaving in 2013.
"That had a lot to do with the show losing Billy (Miller) and Michelle (Stafford)," LeBlanc said, adding, "I went up to (executive producer) Jill (Farren-Phelps) and said, 'Oh, you're gonna get hell for this!' But that's the nature of social media."
LeBlanc even revealed that former The Young and the Restless hairstylist George Guzman learned some interesting rumors about himself.
"It morphed into where George Guzman, a good friend of mine, walked in and said, 'Do you know what they're saying now? That I'm quitting the show because you've been fired!'" LeBlanc divulged.
The Young and the Restless airs on weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
