'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Casting: Ryan Gosling Trailer Has Fans Buzzing [VIDEO]
The film adaptation of the E.L. James racy read "Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to create buzz over who will ultimately be given the part of billionaire Christian Grey. "Gangster Squad's" Ryan Gosling has been one of the names favored by fans for obvious reasons.
However, if there was anyone who doubted the presence the A-lister could bring to the movie, several people are now begging to differ after watching an unofficial trailer posted in June that edited Gosling into the female-adored role.
When the 31-year-old was asked by Extra whether or not he was familiar with the highly explicit novel, he gave the following response:
"I don't ... what is this book that everyone is talking about? It seems very popular."
Although his response was a less than ideal one for fans of the star, many speculate that he could just be staying tight-lipped, which would mean that producers may have already approached him regarding a potential Grey role.
According to Gather, Gosling's co-star Christina Hendricks revealed that their new film "How to Catch a Monster" actually features a fetish club in it. Hence, Gosling should be semi-aware of the BDSM craze that began with "Fifty Shades of Grey." He can also play the sexual character really well, as he had previously showed off his raunchy acting chops in the 2010 film "Blue Valentine."
Internet rumors have also brought some other actors into the prospect pool as Grey favorites, including "White Collar's" Matt Bomer, "Vampire Diaries' " Ian Somerhalder, "True Blood's" Alexander Skarsgard and "Man of Steel" Henry Cavill.
Up until this point, E.L. James and her producers attached to the future film have remained tight-lipped on the casting process. Only time will tell who ends up with the highly-anticipated role of Grey and just who will play his sexual partner, Anastasia Steele.
