On March 6 Deadline reported that Paquin will be reteaming with husband and True Blood costar Stephen Moyer for the project, though the two won't be seen together on screen this time around.

Paquin is in talks for the leading role of Victorian female physician Axie Muldoon, while Moyer will serve as her producing partner for the series.

Things Heating Up This Season Between Claire & Jamie On 'Outlander'?

Madame X is based on the novel My Notorious Life by Kate Manning. Axie is based on a tale of an infamous woman in New York City who developed a successful midwife business with her husband and went on to fight for women's reproductive rights long before women even had the right to vote in the United States.

Lynn Shelton (Your Sister's Sister) is set to direct with a screenplay by Julia Hart (The Keeping Room). Paquin and Moyer will both executive produce through CASM alongside comedic actor Jack Black and his company, Electric Dynamite.

Paquin and Moyer were last seen together on HBO as Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton on True Blood, which came to an end after seven seasons in 2014. They have two children together.

At this time, Madame X is still awaiting a formal release date from HBO and the remaining members of the cast.
