Amanda Knox Movie: WATCH Trailer For Film Based Loosely On Meredith Kercher Murder Ahead Of American’s Final Appeals Trial [VIDEO]
With just a few short weeks left before the final appeals process for Amanda Knox's murder trial, the American's reputation could be further tarnished thanks to the wider release of a film that is loosely based on her case.
The Face of An Angel, starring Kate Beckinsale, Daniel Bruhl and Cara Delevingne, has begun to grab more headlines lately with the release of the film's UK trailer, and a subsequent release date in the United States. And though the film is only loosely based on Knox's case, it still does have some similarities to the now famed murder trial running throughout.
The film was inspired by Barbie Latza Nadeau's book Angel Face, which was also based on the real life trial of Knox and her then-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, who were twice convicted of murdering Knox's former roommate, UK Student Meredith Kercher in the flat the two women shared in Perugia, Italy, back in 2007.

Knox's case has been in the media spotlight since the murder, after she, Sollecito and a third man, Rudy Guede, were all arrested in connection to the crime. Guede's trial was fast-tracked, and he began serving a 16-year sentence in an Italian prison. Knox and Sollecito were also convicted of the crime in 2009, but served only two years of their sentences before an appeals court threw out the charges against them. Italian prosecutors reopened the case in 2013, and Knox and Sollecito were convicted a second time in early 2014.
The couple's final appeal is scheduled to be hears at Italy's Court of Cassation on March 25. That trial will either uphold the conviction reached in 2014, and could result in Knox being extradited back to Italy to begin serving a 28 ½ year sentence, or could set her up for yet another trial, with similar potential results.
The Face of an Angel opens in the U.S. on June 30.
