A Fifty Shades of Grey star is heading over to The CW to play an iconic woman in history.
Is Mary Going To Have A Second Marriage On 'Reign?'
Rachel Skarsten, who played Andrea in Fifty Shades, will be playing the role of Queen Elizabeth on the hit drama Reign. Announced from The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, the actress will join the series in the upcoming finale for the second season where she will then be a series regular.
"The character of Queen Elizabeth, Queen of England, the only living child of Henry VIII and the murdered Anne Boleyn, looms over Mary Queen of Scots for the duration of her life," executive producer Laurie McCarthy revealed. "Elizabeth has also, without ever stepping onto our stage, loomed over our first two seasons as a forceful and intriguing presence."
Chatter On Narcisse's Big Secret On 'Reign'
McCarthy added more detail about this upcoming character; Elizabeth will be wickedly powerful and will share a strong connection with Mary (Adelaide Kane).
"I have been dying to introduce her to our characters and our audience," the producer shared. "Because no single character understands Mary's unique circumstances more. No character is more of a threat to her happiness and her life. Elizabeth's debut in the season finale is a catalyst for events in season three, when Reign will chronicle the lives, loves and tribulations of three queens: Mary, Catherine and now Queen Elizabeth."
Reign airs on Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
