Thomas Jackson, the now former Ferguson MO., Police Chief, is officially resigning from his position on Wednesday after his police force has been criticized for engaging in racially biased law enforcement.

New Recordings Emerge After Michael Brown Case

This shocking news comes just a week after the Department of Justice report blamed the Ferguson Police department for discriminating against members of the African American community.

On Wednesday, CBS news reported that police officials have been using excessive force against African Americans and that blacks have been stopped far more often than white Americans.

The Justice Department found that blacks are 68 perfect less likely to have their cases dismissed by a municipal court judged. An official also announced that from April 2014 to September 2014, 95 percent of people arrested and kept at the city jail for more than two days were African American.

The official stated that these reports would allege that officials who work for the Ferguson police force and the courts have demonstrated racial prejudice while serving the city.

Back in November a judge announced that a grand jury would not indict Darren Wilson, the Ferguson police officer involved in the fatal shooting of unarmed black teen Michael Brown.

Since the announcement, violence has erupted in the streets of the small suburban town and people all over the world have since participated in civil protest's to show their respect to Brown's family, and to demand a change within the justice system.
