Actress Malin Akerman will soon start preparing for a bundle of joy.

At 34 years old, the Swedish-Canadian performer has confirmed to Us Weekly that she is expecting her first child, the magazine reported Friday.

The child's father is Roberto Zincone, Akerman's husband of five years. The couple performed together in Akerman's former alternative rock band called The Petalstones.

The couple is surely excited about the big news, as Akerman told Us Magazine back in June of last year that she and her husband "absolutely" wanted children, and she hoped they would not have to wait too long to welcome a child into the world.

She added that she felt the couple would handle pregnancy well because there is little conflict in their relationship.

"We rarely bicker," the mother-to-be said of Zincone. "We'll sort of fume at each other and then we'll figure it out."

Akerman said she works hard to never spent more than two to three weeks away from her husband, and the pair has found ways to keep things fresh and maintain a healthy and happy relationship.

"We've had some really great experiences. When I was shooting [2009's 'Couples Retreat'] in Bora Bora, he came out there and it was like a honeymoon that we never had," the actress said. "We get really lucky and we make it work."

The couple's child is likely to be quite cultured, as Akerman speaks four languages - English, Swedish, French and Spanish.

She has spoken about feeling evenly divided between Sweden, where she was born, and Canada, where she grew up.

"Every time I'm in Canada I feel more Swedish, and every time I'm in Sweden I feel more Canadian," she told The Toronto Star in 2009. "I belong in both places and I love them both equally. It's funny because the Swedes claim me as their Swedish pride and the Canadians call me their Canadian girl. I'll take it all."
