Adele James Bond "Skyfall" Theme Will Release Oct. 5
Grammy-winning singer Adele will be bringing a British voice back to the theme of the new James Bond film "Skyfall."
Rumors that the "Someone Like You" singer might be involved with the film's soundtrack swirled when she was spotted at London's Abbey Road Studios while the score was being recorded.
Adele admitted her apprehension of taking on the monumental task of doing a James Bond theme in a press statement saying there's "a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song."
This marks the return of a British singer to helm the theme as the last few films had themes by Alicia Keys and Jack White, Chris Cornell and Madonna.
The last Bond film, "Quantum of Solace," featured the collaboration of Jack White and Alicia Keys, "Another Way to Die," which was poorly received by critics. But based on Adele's positive track record, poor reviews shouldn't be in her future! Her multi-million selling album "21" is the longest running female number one on the US Billboard Chart.
The new theme was a collaboration done with Paul Epworth, the producer who worked with Adele for her hit "Rolling in the Deep." Adele's "Skyfall" will be released her website and digital download sites on October 5.
"Skyfall" is the third Bond film to star Daniel Craig as the British secret agent. In the film, Bond is presumed to be dead after an operation in Istanbul ends in disaster. The identities of every active undercover MI6 agent are leaked onto the internet, and M, played by Judi Dench, becomes the subject of a government review over her handling of the situation. When the service itself is attacked, Bond's sudden reappearance gives M the pretext she needs to seek out Raoul Silva, played by Javier Bardem, a dangerous villain claiming a personal connection to both of them. But as he follows a trail from London to the South China Sea, Bond soon finds his loyalty to M challenged over secrets from her past.
"Skyfall" will be released November 9.
