Marissa Mayer Baby: Yahoo CEO Gives Birth, Welcomes Son
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has just added another responsibility to her new high profile gig: the role of mom.
Mayer gave birth to a baby boy, her husband announced.
Mayer's husband, Zacahary Bogue made the announcement on Twitter on Oct. 1:
"Baby boy Bogue born last night. Mom (@marissamayer) and baby are doing great--we couldn't be more excited!"
The baby was born on Sunday, Sept. 30, a week before his Oct. 7 due date. Bogue did not reveal their first child's name or weight.
"Both Marissa and baby are healthy and the family is very excited." Mayer will be "working remotely and is planning to return to the office as soon as possible, likely in 1-2 weeks," a Yahoo rep told MarketWatch.
Shortly after Mayer accepted her position as CEO of Yahoo in July, she announced she was six months pregnant. At the time, she said she would go on maternity leave for several weeks.
Mayer left Google, where she had been since 1999, for the high profile gig at Yahoo.
Mayer is the youngest CEO of a Fortune 500 company, according to CNN and was ranked one of America's most powerful businesswomen in 2012 by Fortune magazine.
Ms. Mayer's husband, Zachary Bogue, is a former attorney who is a partner at Data Collective, an early-stage venture capital fund specializing in tech start-ups. Their son is the first child for both parents.
