In an exclusive interview with BuzzFeed, Ruess revealed that while the band was on a break, he would be working on new material and providing feedback on the hit NBC talent series-something he admits he is extremely excited about.
"I'm super excited and always happy to lend whatever knowledge I have to other vocalists," he said. "Plus I've heard nothing but great things about Blake, Pharrell, Christina, and the guy with the tattoos."

Ruess joins the show and begins advising the remaining contestants starting with the knockout rounds on March 23. He will be a part of the advising panel for three episodes.
Other advisors this season have included other high profile names including Lionel Richie, Meghan Trainor, Nick Jonas and Ellie Goulding.
Ruess' credits as a musician include being a lead vocalist for bands including The Format, as well as Fun, who found mainstream success with their number one hit We Are Young, featuring Janelle Monae, in 2011. The song later won the band a Grammy.
Ruess has also been working as a solo artist since the band went on an official hiatus earlier this year. His first solo album is slated for a summer 2015 release, with his first single, titled Nothing Without Love, released on alternative radio in February.
