Singing competitions are known for having tough criticism, but Sunday night's episode of The X Factor New Zealand went way too far.

Were 'X Factor' Winners Alex & Sierra Affected By Fame?

Contestant Joe Irvine did a performance from Willy Moon who happens to be a judge on the series. His wife, Natalia Kills, is also a judge where both of them were not afraid to rip Irvine apart. But as it turns out, their harsh words backfired and the two will no longer be judges on the singing competition.

On Monday, Hollywood Life announced that Moon and Kills have been fired from the show following their harsh statements. After Irvine performed, this is what Kills had to say:

Simon Cowell Wants Viewers To 'Prefer' 'The X Factor?'

"As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted at how much you have copied my husband," the "Problem" singer said. "Do you not have any value or respect for originality? You're a laughing stock. I personally found it absolutely artistically atrocious."

The contestant, however, did not take this personally and even told Kills that she was "beautiful."

As for Moon, he added on to his wife's statement on how he was not a fan of the performance either.

"It's like Norman Bates dressing up in his mother's clothes," he said. "It's just a little bit creepy and I feel like you're going to stitch someone's skin to your face and then kill everybody in the audience."

Mark Weldon, chief executive of MediaWorks, which owns The X Factor commented on this criticism with how disapproving he is of Moon and Kills' lack of professionalism.

"While the judges on the X Factor are expected to provide critiques of the performances, we will not tolerate such destructive tirades from any of the judges," Weldon said. "Contestants put their all into this competition and they should expect to receive feedback and criticism that is professional and constructive."

Weldon added that Kills and Moon have proven that they are not a good fit for the series and will leave "effective immediately."
