On Wednesday, the actress made an appearance on the episode to discuss her new movie Danny Collins. She gave plenty of insight on the film and how it shows that other directions can be taken and it's never too late to make a change. But her interview took an emotional turn when her magazine spread with Southern Living was brought up.

Garner's magazine story included her as well as her mom and sisters, which made the actress feel proud and teary.

"It makes me cry to see their faces, so I won't look," she said.

The actress continued by saying how glad she was to be a part of this spread with the important women in her life.

"There's just nothing like sharing the spotlight or anything else with your sister and your mom," the wife of Ben Affleck said as she choked back some tears. "It's always fun for me to get my sisters dolled up and my mom."

As she sobbed a little more, she managed to let out a laugh as the emotion surged through her. She then jokingly that the Today show was "too tough" for her.

The reporter kept things light though and tried to bring up a boring subject like Tax Day to liven up the mood.
