John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John; "Grease" Duo Collaborate for Christmas Album
A classic singing duo is coming back for a new collaboration: John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John.
The two stars of the hit musical "Grease" are getting back together to make a Christmas album.
This all started after Travolta got a text from Newton-John that mentioned that their song You're the One That I Want achieved the mark as the top selling duet in the history of pop music.
"From the moment we decided to do this, magic happened," says Travolta to USA Today about the project. "Everyone we contacted agreed to do it."
The album titled This Christmas will include seasonal classics along with an original songI Think You Might Like It, which is a sequel to their hit from "Grease" by writer/producer John Farrar.
The album will also include thirteen guest voices which include top names like Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Kenny G, and James Taylor.
Newton-John said in the press release for the album: "With our busy schedules, I don't know how we got it done. John and I have always connected. That's never gone away. When we're together, we have a good laugh and feel bonded to one another. We've been through some amazing experiences together."
"My desire was to make This Christmas an intimate album, not something too ostentatious or showy," said Travolta, according to USA Today. "I wanted people to be able to play it around the house or in the car during the holidays, and make us part of your celebration."
The proceeds raised from the sales of the album will be donated to the Jett Travolta Foundation, to combat children's disabilities, including autism and seizures, and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
This Christmas will be available Nov. 13 from Universal Music Enterprises.
