Kanye West Glastonbury Headlining Gig Deemed A 'Musical Injustice' By Petition [VIDEO]
Kanye West has his share of passionate followers but they are matched by a share of equally zealous haters and the noise against his headlining spot at Glastonbury 2015 is gaining momentum.
A petition on Change.org demanding that West be taken off the lineup at this year's festival has amassed over 80,000 signatures. West has been confirmed to headline on Saturday at the festival which runs from June 24 to 28. Fellow headliners on other days include the Foo Fighters and Lionel Richie. The petition is rife with chagrin at the organisers' decision to sign up the rapper, actually terming it a "musical injustice." The news of West headlining was made official by the festival website on March 16, revealing that it would be rapper's maiden appearance on the iconic stage.
Emily Eavis, the co-organiser of the festival, also expressed her excitement on getting the artist on board via Twitter. "We are thrilled to let you know we have the one and only Kanye West headlining Saturday night on the Pyramid stage!" she tweeted.
Here's the petition:
"Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment.
Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music....he should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving!
Lets prevent this musical injustice now!"
