Kyle Chandler definitely made a diverse career move when he took the role of John Rayburn on Netflix's Bloodline.

Known for playing the inspiring and good-hearted Coach Eric Taylor on Friday Bight Lights, Chandler decided to do something a little different for his next big TV commitment.

"When they told me about where the character [John] will go in year two, three, four, was outside my wheelhouse of things I've done," explained Chandler during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on March 20. "Even the end of this first season, when I got the first script I was like, 'I've never done anything like this before? Where do I go?' But because the character earned each beat throughout it's not rushed, 'you're like, 'Oh, Okay, I can do this,' because it's earned by the circumstances so well."

"It's well put together," he added. "So I'm excited for that."

Though the series has only seen one season on Netflix so far, showrunners for the family drama are enthusiastic about expanding into a multi-season storyline.

"We were very, very aware of what this arc of the first season would be and it was really part of the DNA of the show…" noted creator Glenn Kessler. "We knew the ride we wanted to take an audience on and we laid that groundwork very early on in the show. We knew where we were headed."

All 13 episodes of Bloodline's first season are now streaming on Netflix. At this time, there has been no confirmation yet for a second season.
