'50 Shades of Grey" Movie Cast Rumors: Ian Somerhalder Considered An E.L. James Favorite?
The buzz over who will ultimately end up playing the S & M crazed billionaire Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey" still continues to heat up. Although no clear-cut Grey favorite has come out of the mouth of author E.L. James, many fans are now speculating that she may have indirectly pitted "Vampire Diaries" Ian Somerhalder as a potential preference.
While speaking to Ryan Seacrest on an "On Air" radio broadcast last week, James had no qualms about revealing her taste in television programming after the host brought up Somerhalder's name, according to WetPaint.
"I'm a big Vampire Diaries fan."
However, to many diehard fans, it's common knowledge that the sexy read's writer indeed has a preference for vampires, as she previously mentioned basing her "Fifty Shades" books on the characters of the "Twilight Saga."
Somerhalder, who admitted he started to read the first of the racy novels, spoke to E! in September about how he sees the casting process going. Although he didn't deny any interest in the Grey role, the 33-year-old seemed as though he was avoiding any association with it.
"I think that's going to be a very interesting story to tell...It seems like whoever plays that role, it will be very interesting rehearsal time... the audition process is gonna be interesting," he stated.
Besides Somerhalder, internet chatter has also brought some other well-respected actors into the prospect pool as potential Grey suitors, which include White Collar's Matt Bomer, True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard, and Man of Steel's Henry Cavill, amongst others.
As of late, E.L. James and her producers have continued to stay relatively mum on their plans for casting. Only time will tell who ultimately ends up with the highly popular role of Christian Grey and who will play his sexual partner, Anastasia Steele.
