'Star Wars Episode 7' News: Did The New Actors Sign Their Lives Away To Be A Part Of This Franchise? [VIDEO]
It would seem that having a part in a Star Wars movie would be a big break for an actor's future in films, but unfortunately that can rarely be the case.
Is There A Curse Happening With The 'Star Wars' Actors?
On Wednesday, The Hollywood Reporter brought up the fact that the only actor from the Star Wars movies who became known for other films besides this franchise was Harrison Ford. Natalie Portman was mentioned as well although her career was already promising before she earned a part in the series.
The site then gave some skeptical thoughts on what this means for all the new stars of Episode VII. When people hear the names John Boyega or Daisy Ridley, are they going to automatically be known for this particular franchise and not much else?
Mark Hamill Reveals What 'Episode VII' Is 'Really About'
According to an agent, who has a client in Episode VII, that could easily be the case.
"When you sign up for this, you're signing your life away, and you're keeping yourself from any other franchises out there," the agent said. "They will not let you be in another franchise. They're going to be cranking out a new movie every year. These actors never get to read the script before signing on. They don't know which [subsequent] one they are in. And then they become known for that role, and it's hard to see them in a Fault in Our Stars kind of movie."
Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters on December 18.
