The Walking Dead show creator Robert Kirkman has officially announced that confirms the news about the upcoming companion series that will be featured on AMC.

On Friday, Kirckman took to Twitter to announce that Fear The Walking Dead is the title of the spinoff show.

The message on Twitter read, "It's official! The Walking Dead companion show on AMC is called Fear The Walking Dead! Expect more news very soon! #FearTheWalkingDead"

Fans on Twitter have been talking about the news since Kirkman made the announcement and it's clear that viewers are extremely excited.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the new show will be produced by Kirkman along with Walking Dead executives Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, and David Alpert.

Earlier this month the site reported that Sons of Anarchy Dave Erickson will act as the showrunner and apparently has been very excited since the news was first announced.

The companion series will be set in Los Angeles and has already received a two-season order from the network.

Season one will debut in late summer and will consist of 6 one-hour long episodes while season 2 will air sometime next year.
