'Transformers 5' Spoilers: Multi-Part Sequels And Spin-Off Films Being Planned [VIDEO]
Not only is Transformers 5 assuredly on, there is the the talk of multi-part sequels and possible spin-off films for the series.
We can finally nip the bud on all the rumors about how the sequel to Age of Extinction was in a state of limbo, and Michael Bay quitting the franchise. Things are well in the Transformers workshop as a recent Deadline report reveals that Bay the producers and a bunch of new writers being hired for the films, are hard at work, coming up with ideas not only for sequels but spin-offs for the film.
The report reveals that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has set up a special writer's room exclusively dedicated to creating new stories for the movies. Even the initially plan trilogy for Transformers, kickstarted by Age of Extinction will be completed.
Transformers 5 Going To Be A Bigger Commercial Success Than Age of Extinction?
There has been a whole lot of speculation surrounding the plot for the upcoming films, andthere has been no official word on the direction the story will take. Some rumors have gone as far as to suggest that a cross between G.I. Joe and Transformers was possible. Bonaventura engaged the proposition in an interview with Total Film, but pretty much shot it down. "I don't think [it's] in the near future at all," he explained. "It's not something we talk about either. There's a lot more story to be told in both cases. And I think if at some moment we think, 'You know what? It's time to bring the two of them together,'we'll do that. But I think they're strong enough to exist on their own."
As Optimus Prime was seen traveling into space, headed to Cybertron to meet his maker at the end of Age of Extinction, many believed that the sequel would be set in Cybertron and there were a lot of theories being suggested to corroborate that. But in a recent interview, producer Lorenzo de Bonaventura revealed that it was more likely that the saga will continue to unfold on mortal land and there were no plans to set it in space. In fact Bonaventura also stated that the setting for Transformers 5 will be very similar to that of Age of Extinction.
Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
